Leadership Empowering Global Academy for Children & Youth
Children bubble with vigor, vitality and enthusiasm. They want to do something. They want to get somewhere. They want action. But where to go? What to do? Children need direction.
The vital thing in life is to know where one stands and then to know the direction one is moving. Without direction, the child’s life will be like a satellite spinning out of control in space.
Life is a journey. It is a journey of an unknown land. It requires a strategy, enthusiasm, persistence and hard work to traverse the journey. A journey that helps the child to reach the destination while enjoying every moment of the journey.
If the child is not properly equipped to face this journey that we call life, chances are that the child may short-circuit the living by choosing the path that is the most comfortable. The path that is most comfortable may be appealing in the short term but may show its unpleasant side in the long term.
Each child is the architect of his or her own destiny. Schools provide a good base. But the child has to go that extra mile to make himself or herself stand tall. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that bit ‘extra’.
We feel by making the child consciously aware of the innate potential and by providing proper direction, we can enable the child to march ahead confidently on the road to success. We feel the child needs leadership qualities and empowering skills to face the world with courage and confidence. We feel if the child is made to realize that there has to be a purpose in life, and provided proper direction, the child will become a fully alive human being.
LEGACY was born out of this desire to make our children of today, fully grown personalities of tomorrow. It is not a club. It is not a group. It is a movement. It is a Global Academy for the Children and Youth that will empower them to lead themselves and be able to lead others.
Leadership and success gravitate to the person who is able to put forth his or her ideas convincingly. It magnetizes people, and situations to support one’s desires. The art of speaking helps a person in more ways than one.
LEGACY will provide this leadership. At LEGACY children will learn the fine art of public speaking, how to conduct programmes, how to attend and conduct interviews, how to participate in group discussions and deliberations, how to face new people and situations with confidence, how to improve their creative writing and many such communication and life enhancing skills. This can be very empowering.
LEGACY will provide them power. The power within the self. The power over their perceptions of the world. Power over how they react to situations in their lives. Power to do what is necessary for their own self-growth. Power to create joy and satisfaction in their lives. Power to act and power to love. It is the kind of power that get themselves to do what they want to do. It is the kind of power that enables them to accept the present and work for the future. It is the power that makes them enjoy every moment of their living to its fullest.
Come and meet us. We shall show you how we aim to achieve this. We welcome you to join us in making LEGACY a movement for the children. Children need direction. Children need LEGACY. We owe it to them.
We have already established LEGACY clubs in Jeddah (founded in 2002), Mumbai (founded in 2007) and Dubai (founded in 2013) for the children of our Indian community and have been doing commendable job in empowering them on leadership qualities and empowering skills to face the world with courage and confidence.
History of LEGACY
LEGACY is the brainchild of two wise men Mr. K. G. Guna and Mr. Xavier Arputharaj who are the founder directors of LEGACY. They joined hands with sixteen people who worked with them as faculties and contributors and founded LEGACY in 2002. Now both the founders have relocated to Dubai and only two of the founding faculties, Mrs. Farah Masood (Vice Principal of IISJ) and Mr. Meyyappan, a Senior Electronics Engineer of Saudi Gazette are still continuing the activities of LEGACY in Jeddah. However, for the good of the children and for the good of LEGACY Mr. Francis Joseph, a community leader and active toastmaster joined the LEGACY team and founded a new chapter of LEGACY and many more new contributors have joined the team as faculties since then.
Now there are two chapters LEGACY International currently running and active in Jeddah. LEGACY is officially registered in London as an International movement for training children and youth.
